When positioning the cross on the top face, the Ucs doesn't need to be moved because the Ucs plane doesn't have any effect in this instance. (There are instances with 3D Autocad design when line entities are affected by the Ucs plane, and the issues are similar to those when dealing with circles. When assigned a thickness, the entities extend only in their original Z plane. This is discussed further in Appendix I of the Autocad training course - Ucs and line thicknesess.)
